Any healer I know worth their salt is also a compulsive collector of books on the topic! I found this treasure in an op shop somewhere for a tiny $8 and it has been such useful reference.
The information is concise with clearly defined parameters. There is a legendary therapeutic index! The forward states that to their knowledge no similar publication is available, and I have not seen another quite like it.
Over 1200 herbs found world-wide are listed.
Sadly none of the entities involved in creating this masterpiece (must have been a huge job) seem to be in existence any longer. There is even an endearing addition in the last paragraph of the introduction thanking especially Valerie Paish "for the typing of the whole".
Good on you Valerie!
The passion for the sharing of knowledge is something I have encountered time and time again amongst true healers. From a doctor by the side of Kokonor Lake in Tibet showing me a herb that he says only grows in a distant valley he goes to, telling me of its properties, to this publication, an absolute labour of love from Queensland Australia in 1983.
Guilty admission, that shelf is just some of the western herbal books!
